HOOFIES

HOOFies – Head Of Our Families

At SVPS, we believe in fostering a strong sense of community and belonging, and our unique cross-grade family system is central to this. We’ve established “families” that bring together learners from different grade levels, creating a supportive and interconnected environment.

Each cross-grade family is a diverse group, made up of one learner from each grade, from Grade 1 through to Grade 7. These families meet once a fortnight to discuss various issues presented on a specially designed agenda. This agenda is thoughtfully created through a collaboration between our Department Heads and the school counsellor, ensuring topics are relevant and beneficial for all ages.

Our Grade 7s play a vital leadership role within these families. Before each “HOOFIES” meeting (as we affectionately call them), our Grade 7 learners receive dedicated training. This prepares them to guide discussions, encourage participation, and support their younger family members effectively. To ensure every family receives adequate guidance, each class educator supervises four HOOFIE families, providing a nurturing and structured environment for these valuable interactions. This system not only builds strong bonds across grade levels but also develops leadership skills in our older students and provides mentorship for our younger learners.
